Many agencies and employers across the country support vanpooling and other forms of ridesharing by offering a Guaranteed Ride Home Program. Typically these programs provide a ride home for registered carpoolers and vanpoolers for specified emergencies (sick child, illness, etc.) and are usually available at no cost to the user. The “ride home” generally takes place via taxi, shuttle service or rental car (for longer trips).

One of the features of a MetroVanPool is the availability of a guaranteed ride home. What this does is take away a big concern about "What happens If?" in ridesharing. That is, "what happens if I need to get home in the middle of the day and I no longer drive my car?" In most cases, the 'What If" never happens. But when it DOES - the guaranteed ride home program kicks in.
