Guaranteed Ride Home

Many agencies and employers across the country support vanpooling and other forms of ridesharing by offering a Guaranteed Ride Home Program. Typically these programs provide a ride home for registered carpoolers and vanpoolers for specified emergencies (sick child, illness, etc.) and are usually available at no cost to the user. The “ride home” generally takes place via taxi, shuttle service or rental car (for longer trips).

One of the features of a MetroVanPool is the availability of a guaranteed ride home. What this does is take away a big concern about "What happens If?" in ridesharing. That is, "what happens if I need to get home in the middle of the day and I no longer drive my car?" In most cases, the 'What If" never happens. But when it DOES - the guaranteed ride home program kicks in.

Features of VPSI Guaranteed Ride Home:

Available to anyone who rides in or drives a MetroVanPool van.
Reimburses you for the cost of getting home by the best way possible (rent a car, hire a taxi, ride a bus, etc.) in the event of a personal emergency affecting you or a member of your immediate household (persons living with you).
Payment is made in the form of a credit against your monthly vanpool invoice when you present a copy of the bill for your ride home (a check will be made out in the case of an employer sponsored program).
LIMITATION: Does NOT cover you for casual overtime.

Program is secondary to any offered by either a TMA or your employer:

You may have a more generous guaranteed ride home program available to you through either a Transportation Management Association you are a part of or through your employer.
If your program is associated with the Atlanta Regional Commission's Commute Connections Program; you may be eligible to participate in THEIR program. Click here to write for for details.
