Park & Ride Lots

Many vanpool groups use Park and Ride facilities as pick up points to begin and end their daily commute. These facilities are central meeting points that provide parking for ridesharers. Typically, Park and Ride locations utilize dedicated parking facilities at convenient locations offering easy freeway access or take advantage of privately owned parking lots such as churches, malls and restaurants in "bedroom" or other local communities where long distance commuting is common.

Park-n-Rides are convenient gathering points for groups to meet at a common point near their homes and then share the ride to work in a vanpool or carpool. Many of our routes use places that are convenient to the users - common places include:

Church parking lots (if one of the riders is a member and has permission)
Local shopping Centers/Strip Malls (again, be sure to obtain permission!)
Existing designated Park-n-Rides

The Georgia DOT Office of Intermodal Programs offers Georgia residents a network of 87 Park & Ride lots located throughout the state.
